Winter 2012 on Crunchyroll
Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at 1:44PM Top picks: Chihayafuru, Moretsu Pirates, Natsume Yujin-cho
Meh meh: Inu X Boku Secret Service
Out for the count: Nisemonogatari
There are a few shows I’m yet to take a look at (generally if I haven’t tried them by now then they’ve already failed to peak my interest in which case they could really shock me) and a few which are non UK. I still can’t decide if this is a better season than last for UK folks since Natsume and Chihayafuru are either follow-up seasons or continuations.
Some shows like Nisemonogatari while visually beautiful and seemingly good, don’t have the first season available and if you’ve missed that it’s a bit tough to watch.
Moretsu Pirates has shocked a few people who weren’t expecting much from it and has been a lot of fun.
Chihayafuru is strangely perfect from episode to episode, with some beautiful character design and a strangely compelling plot nestled within the confines of an insane Japanese card game.
Natsume Yujin-cho remains one of the most beautiful stories out there today, it stole my heart and is perhaps my favourite anime of all time.
